House of Henkel - Gretchen Chenin Blanc

House of Henkel - Gretchen Chenin Blanc
TASTING NOTES
This medium-bodied attractive wine is slightly oaky. Prominent guava
aromas carry flavors of litchi and mango. Beautiful balance, fine structure.
Nuances of passion fruit blossoms offer a grand entrance, followed by
notes of kiwi and green lemon. Creamy mid-palate with a subtle
herbaceous undertone. The wine displays a light honey color, depicting
rays of sunshine. This youthful freshness is complimented by the balanced
acidity. The nose of the wine is pure fruit flavors with a refreshing finish.

HARVEST
The origin of these grapes stems from the Stellenbosch region. Harvesting
took place by hand at 22.5°balling in the cool of the morning.

IN THE CELLAR
Without crushing or destemming, three hour long pressing took place,
followed by fermentation for three weeks in stainless steel tanks. The wine
was racked and allowed to age for a few months on the fine lees,
whereafter light filtration preceded bottling. The wine was racked from its
primary lees and returned to the barrels, where it was aged for another 16
months (80% barrels were first fill and 20% were second fill).

FOOD SUGGESTION
An excellent creamy fruit forward wine to pair with light pastas, a variety of
seafood, including sushi and oysters, light white meats and salads.

Ready to be enjoyed now with a maturation potential of up to five years.
